Hello. Beautiful and welcome to today's bonus episode where we are talking about a portfolio career. So you might be like, what is that? You may actually already know what that is, but I can speaking to so many of you recently in these parity chats that you've been booking with me, which has been fantastic. I love chatting to my community.

They’re free no-obligation calls. So grab the link in the show notes, get booked onto one of those. And let's get you unstuck the portfolio careers.

00:30

There's something that. I stumbled across years ago when I actually left my corporate job. So some of you may not know that I used to work full time in London.

This is BC before children. I love my job in marketing. I worked in the it industry and it was great. But when I was looking to the future and thinking, well, how am I going to do this crazy 12 hour commuting day if I want to have a family. And so that's when I started to look around at like what other options existed.

And at the time, this is obviously going back 10 years ago, there weren't

01:00

that many options. I mean, I didn't have some amazing talent too. I couldn't make anything physically with my hands that I could sell. And I was thinking, well, what does that look like? And it's, it's how I actually got into running my Arbonne business.

So some of you may or may not know I'm an Arbonne independent consultant. So Arbonne's a vegan health and wellness brand. And we specialize in nutrition, makeup and skincare products. So for me, that was something that I started as a side hustle for want of a better phrase. When I was still working full time and it gave me

01:30

such a lovely focus in terms of the community, the skills I was learning, because it was all free training.

It was incredible. I like, I think the network marketing industry is phenomenal for the supported offers, its consultant base. And my early experience has ever been of Arbonne, which has always been a really positive one, but really I'm sharing the story for you because that was how I started to expand my options.

And so when it was that I got to a place in my career where I really wasn't happy. I wasn't feeling fulfilled. It had built up so much

02:00

confidence in me that I actually quit my job. Oh my goodness. And I stepped away. Now my income hadn't replaced what I was earning in my corporate job, which was significant at the time.

But what it had done is given me confidence to step out. So what I actually then did was run my Arbonne business around doing some consulting. So people were calling me up saying, oh, I hear that you're available right now. Can you come and do like a day a week here in my business or, and it was ready through my personal network and telling people that I was available

02:30

to hire.

And really it was, I took sort of two to three days a week consulting. I was running my Arbonne business and it was really this perfect blend of a portfolio career. So how that might look for you right now is your kids might've started school and you suddenly got some time during school hours that you can invest.

Yes. You still need. From the home and do all the things. Oh my goodness. There's so many things that is why I still only work part-time because I'm still very much focused on being a present mom and doing all the things that come with that, all the activities and the

03:00

pickups. I mean, let's be honest, the school days, the shortest six hours of your life, literally, but for me, it's.

Okay. What can you do? What can you start getting back into? I was chatting to a mum recently who was like, I just don't want to go back to what I was doing before. So she's actually taken a job, helping a friend and her business two days a week, just really no stress, low risk. But at the same time, I was like, it's so good that you're doing that because it's building your confidence back up.

And once you start to feel that confidence, you're going to start to nudge other

03:30

doors and see, okay, well, I really liked that and that could lead to that. And that's literally how my business evolves. So, I went from doing some business and marketing consulting, retraining, and digital marketing, really starting to help businesses with the social media, which I absolutely love.

I'm actually a business coach really at the heart of it. But then all the stuff I was doing with Arbonne was really stoking my fuel and fire around health. And I was loving that. And then I was like, oh, I'd love to do my health coaching. And then I was on my fertility journey and then I had Jesse and then it was that whole, like first

04:00

blur of the year, 18 months

where I was a mom and just focused on my Arbonne business. And then when Jesse started to go to nursery more and actually said to me, mommy, please, can I go more and more? Because I had my hours, my allocated childcare hours, which the UK government provided when kids turn three, which is an incredible benefit.

And so that was when I was like, okay, well, I can start doing more for me, which is when I went and retrained as a health coach, which is something I've always wanted to do where I started my own health coaching business and

04:30

just leaning into that. So I share all that because I think sometimes people might look at me now and think.

So easy for you. You've got so much confidence. You seem to be so happy in what you do all the rest of it, but it's been a 10 year journey of pushing doors here and there, figuring it out, trying different things. Does that work? Do I like that for me, I didn't enjoy like writing people's blogs and doing their social media for them, but for me as a marketing consultant, but actually I love helping people with their business.

So one of my favorite things is to get on a

05:00

call with people and say, This is what I think you should do with your business. Boom, boom, boom, boom. Because I have that holistic knowledge. Yeah, but even from a health perspective, I can see and understand why moms feel stuck and I'm able to really drill down into that.

So I am actually a health and wellness coach and wellness is not just physical, it's mental, so it's helping with all aspects. So I really just wanted to encourage you today that if you are looking to maybe escape a job that you don't enjoy, or maybe you're looking to get back into work, or maybe you've got something, but

05:30

it's not quite paying you enough right now.

And you need something else, a portfolio career, having a few different things that you do under the umbrella of your career is absolutely amazing. And to be honest is what most successful moms entrepreneurs, business owners do is they have a few different things. I've got so many moms in my network who do.

And I personally just love the variety. I love that certain seasons acquired. So, so then you can work more on one business than the other. So yeah, I hope this resonated.

06:00

And if you want to chat more about this, maybe just flush this out a bit, book a car to chat with me. It's a free 30 minute, no obligation call.

The link is in my show notes and I would love to unpack this with you and help you and use my skills and business. And help to help you get unstuck right now. So I'll talk to you soon. Lovely. Take care.
